In a very strange and comforting way life just keeps on going and this morning was another morning unique and yet just the same as all the other school mornings.
Little Miss has her golden birthday tomorrow and I'm getting ready to head out to the store to shop for Little Mr.
He is a major snooper, so I've resorted to either not hiding his gifts at all and thus having no surprise or trying in vain to outwit the kid. I think I've got it this time. It's something small and electronic, so sure to be a hit, and I'm going to hide the dang thing inside the safe this afternoon. Ha!
Yeah, I know. Whatever. I'm allowed to be childish once in a while at 40 if it pleases me.
The Littlest Mr. had ice cream for his birthday "cake" so it was easy. Little Miss wants the classic girl princess birthday. Pink cake and chocolate ice cream. Easy. Little Mr. is a bit more interesting, maybe it's his age. He's looking for some jazzed up Monkey Bread. Love this child.
So I'm thinking we'll up the Monkey Bread with some chips, either mini-chocolate or butterscotch. I think I'd prefer butterscotch, which means chocolate is probably the answer. Then some frosting, because enough is never enough. I had been thinking a sort of cream cheese glaze, but now maybe just a chocolate drizzle to go with the chips.
Last but not least on the birthday train is Little One. His first love is Nilla Wafers, so I'm going to use those and his second love, strawberries to make a sort of pie. It involves the fridge, Cool Whip, Jello and fresh berries. How could you go wrong there? Especially by mid-June when hot is here. A nice cool pie will be a great treat.
