Odds -N- Ends

Strange Quotes from The Pack

"Wouldn't it be cool if Abraham Lincoln got hit by lightning and then became a zombie?"

"Pass me the Oreo's" said while pointing at a bowl full of croutons.

"Don't put your feet in the cookie jar please."

"Mama, where's my wee nuts?" said by a small girl.

"If you have boogers hanging out of your nose, it means, get out of your nose!"

Today is the last day of the first year of public school for my boys. It will also be the last day they attend the same school for the next 7 years. When Little Mr. is a senior, Littlest Mr. will be a freshman. Although knowing that there are going to be magnet schools in our city by then, it is entirely possible they will never again attend the same school at the same time. Wow.

I came down with some sort of strange virus yesterday and had a night filled with a very weird and disturbing fever sleep. It was an awful night, but oddly enough other than being a little achy and having a little sore throat, I'm feeling pretty good, although, I could really use a nap.

Let's see, last day of having just 2 kids under foot and I spent the morning at public health getting WIC checks and am going to spend the afternoon at the vet. What a fun day. I wish there was a sarcasm button.

This was Littlest Mr.'s idea, but I'm thinking it ought to get sent in. He suggest that Jolly Ranchers should come in flavors like Coke and Dr. Pepper and root beer and chocolate. Coke flavored Jolly Ranchers. I'd buy them by the bag full in a heart beat. Sounds like candy heaven to me.

Just like Coke slushies. Heaven in a foam cup.

And if you've been keeping score, I did pass my latest physical, no thyroid issues, no diabetes and cholesterol in the happy zone. All amazingly surprising, but I'll take it!

For a change, even though our summer schedule means I'm going to spend a lot of time driving people places and washing uniforms and practice clothes, I'm really looking forward to it. I think we've planned it full, but not so full that we'll hate by the time it's over.

I'd ask you to say a few little extra prayers for my nephew. They are hoping to make another trip to The Lighthouse in Florida. It's a special retreat for families who have a child with cancer. His health has taken a little turn for the worse these past few days and I know they don't want to miss this trip. They've been looking forward to it for a whole year. Just pray he stays healthy and nothing happens while they're gone.

On that same note, while they're gone, I'll be doing a little respite for their foster. For about a week, I'll have two two year olds! It should be fun, but if I'm forgetful or don't answer the phone, have a little mercy on a girl!

I'm not really sure I should care, but my big kids decided they didn't want to do the summer library reading program. Their comments were, the prizes are "lame" and we finish it so fast and we read anyway mom, what's the point. Yup. Not much to argue about there. As long as we're all reading I going to say it's all good.

I think that's all from the Land of Oz today.
