My Very Own Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Morning

So I've been re-learning for the past 2 weeks that complaining is a sin. Much like worry is a sin. Or gossip. It's just a no-no.

Even if you're not a Believer, it ain't so good for your mental health or your physical body, so give it a rest. Besides, it wears on the rest of us.

In light of that complaining though, I'll try real hard to make this a post that is not a complaint.

I'm thankful that at 5:30 The Mr. fed the dog. I'm thankful we have a house with solid doors and a dog that wants to love on us all.

I'm thankful for my daughter. I'm thankful she can climb into my bed and I'm thankful her skull is so solid and my body can handle a few bruises.

I'm thankful that Little One lets me know when he's ready to get out of bed in the morning. I'm thankful he's jumping around in his crib, kicking the walls, using his strength to throw his toys and has found his voice.

I'm thankful for my big kids who made their own breakfasts. I'm thankful we had enough food to spill on the floor. I'm thankful there was sticky jam on my door knobs and counter tops. I'm thankful the newspaper was lying right there folded up nice and neat on the table to soak up all that milk. I'm thankful to miss all that bad news in print and focus my attention somewhere else this morning.

I'm thankful the coffee brews itself long before I'm out of the shower. And I'm thankful for the micro that reheats it when I'm finally ready for a cup.

I'm thankful my kids have so much spunk that the morning was filled with loud voices and rough play. I'm thankful for the way they burst out the door and fly off to school.

I'm thankful they have so many clothes to choose from and that they dress themselves, even if I marvel at their combinations.

I'm thankful for missed visits even when they destroy "my time" for getting "work" done. I'm thankful for every extra moment with these kids that are only temporarily mine.

I'm thankful for barking dogs and too bright sunlight. I'm thankful for broken tv remotes and dirty carpets. I'm thankful for the next 2 hours of hair care, simply because her hair grew back in all the abuse spots. I'm thankful for my missing eye liner, for crayon colored on puzzles and purple frosting embedded in my chairs.

I'm thankful for gray hair and clothes that are decades old. I'm thankful for the one pair of shoes we can find. I'm thankful that I can be indecisive about dinner because my freezer is full. I'm thankful for all those dirty dishes in my sink from our abundant dinner last night. I'm thankful we ate it all together at the table, all 6 of us.

I think you see where this goes.

It might still be a drinking from a fire hose sort of day, but that's all good.

Thanks, Jen! I needed that kind of perspective today. I guess I should be thankful for the sudden 504 plan that's looking us in the face, and the countless doctors' visits scheduled between the 2 youngest this month. I'm fried, but at least I have a roof over my head, clothes on my back, food on my table & friends like you to laugh about it with!

This is awesome! I'm thankful for your perspective, cause I can see my own chaos in the midst,
