Birthday Torte

It's that time again.  Another birthday for The Mr.

In light of his big day tomorrow, I thought I'd share the recipe for his birthday dessert.

It's a creamy chocolaty peanutty goodness that's insane to try to resist.  It's tricky and time consuming to put together, but believe me, even when it looks ugly, it's tastes damn good.

Layer 1
1 cup flour
1/2 cup butter
2/3 cup chopped peanuts
Mix those together well, push into the bottom of a glass 9X13 pan and bake for 20 minutes at 350.

**This is probably the most important part of being able to make the dessert look pretty.  COOL COMPLETELY BEFORE ADDING NEXT LAYERS.  In the event you don't, it will look ugly.  It will still taste amazing.

Layer 2
1/3 cup peanut butter
8 oz. cream cheese
1 cup powdered sugar

Cream those together--I use the food processor--spread over the baked layer.

**EXTRAS** Now, I like to add a layer of chopped peanuts and chopped peanut butter cups.

Layer 3
2 cups of cool whip

Spread it out over the previous layer.

Layer 4
2 packages of chocolate pudding mix
3 cups cold milk

Mix together with electric mixer to make the pudding, spread over previous layer.

Layer 5
2 cups cool whip

Spread over previous layer.

**EXTRAS**  Sprinkle with  more chopped peanuts and more chopped peanut butter cups.

Keep in the fridge.

We love this silly dessert.  There's no scooping it out pretty.  There's no putting candles in it.  There's no way to describe it.

In a way, it's a lot like our family.  It's messy and sticky and the layers don't stay all separated and neat.  It's generally really loud when we're eating it.  It brings lots of smiles and laughter though, and makes for some great memories.

So get yourself a couple of boxes of pudding and give it a try.

It's stupid yummy good.

Honest.
